Scope of Position:
We will look to have you deliver improved manufacturing performance through improved execution, maintenance and operational ownership in various areas of the plant. Support daily operations in process troubleshooting and problem-solving manufacturing process issues, driving continuous improvement and cost reduction to achieve plant requirements for safety, quality, delivery, selects, uptime, throughput, and cost. Apply technical knowledge and practices to effectively to solve difficult technical, operational and engineering related problems.

Day to Day
Responsibilities:

  • Provides day-to-day problem-solving support to production and troubleshoots material, process/equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action
  • Work directly with engineering and operations in fixing and resolving process issues
  • Work with operators, team leaders, and peers to develop and implement process, equipment, Lean, 5S, or safety improvements into manufacturing
  • Develop project plans, timelines, cost estimates for process improvements to meet the overall manufacturing and operations objectives
  • Uses rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps
  • Functions as a team member or team leader on focused projects, process/equipment changes and experimental plans involving the production process, including process improvement, new product trial runs, equipment/tooling redesign, raw material, batch and/or component changes
  • Identifies, implements, and documents material, process and/or equipment changes that deliver key improvements
  • Supports development and implementation of training and development programs for new and experienced operators and other engineers

Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:
Typically, 8-5 M-F, including off-hour, weekend, and holiday hours as needed to support 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Travel Requirements:
We anticipate travel will be less than 10%

Required Education &
Experience:

  • BS in Ceramic, Chemical, Materials, or Mechanical engineering
  • 1
    years of hands-on experience in engineering or manufacturing

Required Skills:

  • Project leadership experience or training
  • Sound ability to operate as an individual contributor or collaborate in team or matrix organization
  • Self-motivated and self-starter who is results oriented and can work independently with high commitment / energy
  • Strong technical curiosity and desire to learn
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making processes and skills. Proficient in quality tools including Kepner - Tregoe, Performance Excellence, Project Management tools, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with demonstrated organizational & planning skills
  • Track record of accomplishment on small projects or production support
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Experience working on technical problems or teams with technicians
  • Basic computer skills - MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Statistical Analysis Tools, MS Project or other Project scheduling tools
  • Conflict management -seeks win-win solutions. Calms down and resolves problems versus escalating
  • Works well under stressful/emergency situations

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated results delivering technical improvements in Manufacturing
  • Experience with ceramic manufacturing and experience and understanding of process management systems, process control and discipline techniques
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Access, and Statistical Analysis Tools (Minitab or JMP)
  • Demonstrated summer internship experience in their technical field during undergraduate study work, plus have had a few years of industry experience
  • Shift supervisory experience
  • Effectively manage and deliver on multiple priorities
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of different technical backgrounds
  • Interpersonal skills engaging, enabling, open

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
