Orthopedic Technician I - NRV Ortho
Job Summary
Support Carilion s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the application, management and removal of orthopedic casts, splints, and braces as directed by the physician/ physician's assistant. Functions under the direction of the physician, physician's assistant, RN or LPN and Orthopedic Technologist II. Assists the physicians and other staff with the coordination and practice of patient care delegated and in accordance with the institutional standards of practice. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent education required. Commitment to work toward national certification in orthopedic technology required. Completion of basic medical terminology course and basic skeletal anatomy, provided by Carilion Clinic.
Experience: 1 year experience in direct patient care required. Direct patient care in orthopedics preferred.
Licensure/Certification: AHA BLS-HCP required upon hire or must be able to acquire within 6 months of employment.
Other: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required.Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position. Must be able to meet essential job functions. After 30 months, required to obtain Certification from the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists (NBCOT) or equivalent certification required.
