Assistant Professor - Data Analytics

The Department of Business Information Technology in the R. B. Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level beginning August 2017. The Business Information Technology undergraduate major includes degree options in Decision Support Systems (DSS) and Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSM). Candidates should have an appropriate academic background and expertise to teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to one or both of these areas. Qualifications include a doctorate in operations and supply chain management (OSM), or information Technology (IT), or a closely related field, and evidence of prior teaching experience in one of these areas. This position will be responsible for teaching 12 credit hours of courses per academic year. This position will align with cross-university instruction in computing and data analytics in the Data Analytics and Decision Sciences destination area. As such, candidates should have an appropriate academic background and expertise to teach courses in data analytics related to one (or both) of the two degree options, DSS or OSM. In addition to strong evidence of teaching ability, a successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research. Faculty members in the Pamplin College of Business are expected to pursue an active research program, resulting in publications in the leading research journals in their academic field of expertise. In addition to a strong research program, and undergraduate and graduate teaching, faculty members are expected to engage in departmental, college, and university service activities.
